I don't think I was really ever any type of regular awards show watcher, but I'd catch a few here and there. In a minor way, they would be interesting to see. But then again, back then, movies were still real. Still authentic. New and original movies were being made. That, and I believed that they weren't all fixed or anything. These days, the awards shows have less to do with the movies and more about political posturing.

I use to like the years that Billy Crystal use to host.
He was funny, and the opening scenes were fun to watch.
I was more into it in the early to late 70s.

Billy was the best host. He was the blueprint. Other comedians that came after Billy were influenced by Billy.
He was funny, and the opening scenes were fun to watch.
Conan did one this year! He was pretty good at it. It reminded me of when Billy did it -
