I can't imagine film buffs being snooty and disapproving about this movie. It's so well written, plotted, and acted!
I watched it again, after many years, and loved the tension building between Marisa Tomei and Joe Pesci. They are like the proverbial peas in a pod. They both have the same triumphant smile when they confidently lay out the facts and win a point. There's not a hint of hesitation, even when both of them are challenged by the polished professionals they face in the courtroom.
When the courtroom erupts at the end, you want to shout, too - because it is so unexpected, and so well-deserved. Movies that make you want to shout and celebrate are good movies!
(There are some great comedic situations in this movie: when the boys think they are talking about a shoplifted can of tuna, everything they say is hilarious. Then, Ralph Macchio's reaction when he realizes what the charge is: priceless, and so natural! WHOA!
