Something that I always found strange was when Lisa and Vinny come to town and hip hop is blasting through their radio. Vinny and Lisa are Brooklyn Italians. Why in God's name are they listening to that beep

I agree.
That's odd.
Maybe it was just used to show the wide disparity between the people driving down from New York (Vinny and Lisa) and the local town folk.
But, I agree that it's odd. And not likely the type of music that Vinny and Lisa would favor. -

Well my reasoning is this: Take Vinny for example. We are never told his age, so I went with his real age of 48-49. He was around for the start of rock n roll. This period was well before rap/hip hop and besides Vinny would be an outcast in his neighborhood had he blasted that beep out of his window in Brooklynif not chased out of the neighborhood. So, I see him as more of a doo-wop, Italian singers of that era person ie Dion, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra Ditto with Mona Lisa. Now, she was 21 years younger than Vinny..but, I still can't see her listening to rap or hip from who I'm sure she grew up with and who raised her. I think Joseph A Spadaro has a point by the filmmakers showing the difference between the southerners and the New Yawkahs!
