I always wondered why throughout this film Meg Ryan sounded like she had a cold. Her voice is raspy and different. Was she sick or was that an acting choice?

Maybe she was trying to do the Kathleen Turner husky voice thing. She was real popular in the 80's. KT once said she practiced with a voice coach and erasers between her teeth. I read that interview a long time ago and still wonder about the erasers, but whatever!

In my opinion, by my knowledge, the movie was shot between April and June 1992
I believe which Meg Ryan had a bit debilitated due to it was in the ailing phase after the pregnancy diet (you can notice the facial aspect and extreme Meg Ryans paleness) when she gave birth to her son Jack Quaid. Meg was still reeling. her voice was a little husky and panting but sounded a sexier tone, Meg Ryan became more serene and balance behavior -

Meg Ryan's voice was fine in the beginning of the movie (party scene), but then is raspy when Alec Baldwin visits her the next night, working at the bar. Then, for the rest of the movie, it tended to vanilla tell. But, it was raspy during the honeymoon scenes well.
I don't know why the director or the Continuity person didn't pick up on it.
