We are talking the gradual eroding of women’s rights. The threats include but are not limited to:
Violence and Harassment: Women and girls are disproportionately affected by violence, including sexual violence, which can be used as a tactic of war or as a tool to silence women human rights defenders.
Discrimination: Women face discrimination in various areas, including employment, education, and access to resources like land and property.
Restrictions on Reproductive Rights: Women's access to sexual and reproductive health services, including abortion, is being increasingly restricted in some regions.
Backlash Against Women's Rights: There is a global backlash against women's rights, with governments and other actors attempting to roll back progress made in gender equality.
Exclusion from Decision-Making: Women are often excluded from decision-making processes at all levels, including in politics and in the workplace.
Digital Violence: The digital space can exacerbate gender disparities, with online platforms amplifying harmful stereotypes and facilitating cyber violence against women.
Economic Inequality: Women face significant economic inequalities, including lower pay, limited access to financial resources, and less job security.
Impact of Conflict: Women and girls are disproportionately affected by conflict, facing increased risks of sexual violence, displacement, and other human rights violations.
Threats to Women Human Rights Defenders: Women human rights defenders face increased risks of violence, harassment, and intimidation, including threats to their families.
