"We’ve hatched the plan, what we think is the right way to go,” said Grammar. "We’re sort of on standby a little bit. Working out a couple of possible network deals that we’re circling. Frasier is sort of in a second position to that at this point. So there’s still stuff going on. But a revisit to Frasier, Frasier’s world is I think definitely going to come.”
Grammer didn’t give too much more detail about the reboot, other than that it will find Frasier based in a new city, and would potentially debut next year. "We’ll see how people respond to it because it’s not going to be the same place, it’s not going to be Seattle,” said the actor. "It’s not going to be the same Frasier—it’s going to be the man in his next iteration. Hopefully that’ll be something people like watching.”
It isn't a reboot technically. It is a whole new show set in a whole new city. No network has picked it up yet, but one certainly will. -

It's not really the same character imo.
I agree, but then, he wasn't the main character on Cheers.
We learned more about him and his family and upbringing on Frasier.

If it happens, I'd watch it. I have always liked Frasier. On Cheers or Frasier, Kelsey Grammer was great. He even makes the Medicare enrollment commercial classy!
If memory serves, didn't Frasier get a job offer in San Francisco in the Frasier finale? I think it could be fun if his son, all grown up came to live with him.

I'll miss John Mahoney though…
Martin was my favorite. Niles and Daphne could visit him from time to time. Perhaps they could bring him the grandson of Eddie?

I remember them having an argument about getting him fixed after Eddie impregnated the neighbor's dog. She brought over the litter. They were all little miniature Eddies. Frasier took matters into his own hands and took him to the vet, but I thought Martin followed him there and put a stop to it.
I could be wrong…. It's happened before…

Eddie? Why even bother replacing him? It's impossible.
In any case, if another show is written as well as Frasier was, there will probably be other characters and elements to make it unique in it's own way.

Naturally. Both actor and character have died. That is the logical assumption.
It's a new show. Bring new characters in. As I said earlier, bring Frasier's son, Freddie to San Fransisco and have him move in with Frasier. Fredrick could take after Martin!
Imagination is a wonderful thing. Give it a whirl.

John Mahoney, the actor who played Martin died.
Martin did not die on the show, but after all these years, it would be understandable if the character passed away as well. That would most likely be established in the new show.
I reserve my imagination only for David Muir giving me a whirl
Do tell….
