I like C.C and thought she was funny but truth be told She would have made a Terrible Step Mother to Maxwell children. C.C is the type who would have sent them away to a boarding school to some other kind of school in order to get rid of them.
Fran cared about them a lot more then C.C.

That is one of the things that probably stopped Maxwell from wanting to marry her. C.c and maxwell would have been ok together the kids didn't like her either.
