Ed Harrington (Alison's dad) was the owner of the country club where Mr. Belding, Screech and the gang had summer jobs. Like Leon Carosi (whose daughter was Zack Morris's girlfriend), Ed was a grouch and cheapskate. I guess the writers thought they were slick by having that "out of school" story arc take place at a country club instead of a beach club. That doesn't exactly help when the top-billed cast members' characters were dating the grouchy boss's daughter (Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Dustin Diamond received top billing on the original and spinoff respectively).
Also, fun fact, Frank Bonner (Ed) directed every episode of "City Guys." I never heard of a TV show that didn't have multiple directors. "That 70s Show" came close, because David Trainer directed every episode, except the pilot.

Did they ever explain why Mr. Belding was working a low level summer job for minimum wage with a bunch of high school kids despite the fact that he was a high school principal in a wealthy school district during the rest of the year? That part never made any sense other than to give Belding a reason to appear in those episodes. Couldn’t they have made him a relative of a member or of the owner as an excuse for him being there?
