Other students may think he was a moron in second and third seasons, but not yet completely a moron, Kurt_Stein.
While working in the store with Mr. Belding during the sixth or seventh season, Screech spilling soup on an expensive juke box and nearly burned down the store, was completely accidental, not on purpose.
He's only a strongly destructive moron in those two full episodes only, but that doesn't mean he's a complete type of strongly destructive moron in the entire new class series.
But if you want to say that he just came back needing complete help, which strict Bayside High doesn't tolerate any help at all, then fine go ahead!

Mr. Belding sure seemed to think Screech was a moron! Remember the episode where they worked at the country club and Mr. Belding asked Screech to rub suntan lotion all over his body? Mr. Belding seemed really annoyed when Screech screwed up and rubbed salad dressing all over him!
Mr. B also rolled his eyes at Screech during the ep where the class was in France and Screech asked him to ride a tandem bike through the streets in Paris!

Whatever you said recently, Kurt_Stein, is applies to Screech being a moron
        MORE
        on Mr. Belding
        THAN
        on all new class students.
Some of the moron incidents that Screech did were considered accident,
        not
purpose. But yes, in the New Class,
        not
        only that
        Screech was difficult on Belding
, there is also a case that
        Belding was difficult on Screech
        in the meantime.
Just tell me that all the new class students, including Screech, are considered
        helpless students
        , which are
        not
tolerated by all strict public places, like Bayside, at all!
You must be an example of a strict person who does
        not
like helpless people at all, Kurt_Stein?

Did you ever see Life Goes On, where the main character, Corky, had Down's Syndrome? Corky seemed more respected at his high school than Screech ever did!
I wish Corky had been in a few eps of Saved By The Bell: The New Class. It would have been funny to watch Corky slap Screech around or play pranks on him!

            That's because Corky
received both better help and better respect ahead of time
, back then, than Screech, Kurt_Stein.
Corky is well-known as a helpful and respectable person right now.

Screech may not have Down's Syndrome, but Corky really did seem to be far more intelligent!

                I know Screech does
                not
have Down syndrome like Corky, but Screech has a
                partial Down syndrome
                with
                some
                intelligent, which is
                not
                as much as Corky.
                But Corky was
                carefully both classified and included
                in his own original show
                ahead of time successfully
                and that is what Screech
should have in his own original show ahead of time
                back then.

He was in it because no one else would hire him, he's been tycast as Screech since he was 14 - he only famous for playing that one character, he's not a good actor and playing screech is the only way he could get an acting job, he knew this, so he couldn't turn down 'the new class'. You're probably right about the producers adding him to bring back some of the old fans, I don't think Screech was THAT popular in the original version though, most people I know found him annoying.

                    Kaydie-fee:
                    Whoever those
                    original class producers and writers
that included both Dustin and Screech in that
                    difficult original class
                    should be
completely blamed for being in a hurry and careless
                    .
If, in default for some other reason, the original class producers and writers have a reason why they were in a hurry to include both Dustin and Screech in the difficult original class to make it entertaining without a choice, then I might predict there is some kind of
                    big bad recession
                    going on back in
                    1989
                    .
That big bad recession back in 1989 may have
                    made a forced change
on Dustin and his Screech role, which is
                    very difficult
to handle and deal with, by including him in difficult original class without a choice.
                    Age level is
                    not
                    the factor, it is the
                    difficult level
which is considered the factor, instead.
Some people think Screech is difficult on the original class, but unfortunately, the original class is difficult on Screech on the other way at the same time.

Dustin or his parents may have been broke in 1989 and that may have forced him to take the 'screech' role (or maybe not) but the point is if he wasn't Screech then he would have no acting career.
In his book he whines about being typecast as Screech but nobody forced him to be in the new class for five years, Dustin acts as if he could have been a great actor but being Screech killed his career, but the truth is, he is not a good actor at all and being Screech has no bearing on the scripts he wasn't offered - he should be thankful for the role in the new class because it got him a steady paycheck for a few years

First of all, that Screech did not make Dustin a good actor, even if he portrayed well or not.
Secondly, I keep on repeating this that the original class is most likely too difficult for both Dustin and his Screech role to be included in a hurry.
Thirdly, The New Class is not that difficult for both Dustin and his Screech role to get invited. He acted good in the new class and he portrayed Screech realistically in it along the way positively, even if he irritates Belding or not, in the meantime. He irritates a few times with the New Class, which is not as a worse as both the original members and Belding. But what made it worse is that they appraised the Screech character too strong along the way, beginning in the fourth season. Then in the last two seasons (sixth and seventh), the strong appraisal on Screech may have been overdone.
Kaydie-fee, you mentioned "Dustin or his parents may have been broke back in 1989", what do you mean by that?

The question is if they paid him the same, more, or less than what he was getting paid for Saved by The Bell: The college years.

They paid him more in the new class with all of the new class students, not with Belding.

Dustin Diamond obviously came back to the New Class because it was an easy paycheck for him. Dustin Diamond was not a talented actor, so I can’t say that I blame him for returning to the New Class to make more money. I remember reading that because it was a Saturday morning tv show, his salary was only about 1/6th of what it would have been for a prime time series. However, he still managed to make at least a couple million dollars by the time he was in his early 20s. Unfortunately for him, he blew through it quickly. I guess that Diamond assumed that there would always be a plethora of loser douchebag roles for him to play, but he was certainly wrong about that.
