I liked part 2 slightly better than the first one. I miss the midget kid Issac though. He was funny. He looks exactly the same in part 6 too.

The first is the absolute best, followed by part 3. Part 2 is probably the third best in the series, which shouldn't have gone past a single film honestly. Part 2 came too long after the first (8 years); it didn't have the same atmosphere; it was too cheesy and early 90s; the music, although excellent, was comedic in parts; it contradicted themes put forth in the original (i.e. - no electricity, yet Micah uses a remote control); the children weren't dressed the same and looked too much like city kids; there were MULLETS; the corn was too green; the storyline about the parents being buried in the cornfield was ignored to make them have been put into basements and chopped up in a field; the people making it honestly didn't really even care (this is made undoubtedly clear on the audio commentary on the UK Anchor Bay DVD).
Unfortunately, the UK version has different opening music (no children chanting, but funny enough this music is included on the soundtrack CD) and the scene where Micah gets 'posessed' and his molecular structure is literally torn apart and taken over by 'blackness' is completely gone. I really wish we could just get a decent region 1 DVD with all of the scenes intract.

It's been a few years since I've seen it, but I videotaped it off of pay cable two separate times! I like it better than the original for one reason only: Christie Clark! 'Nuff said!

This one is alright, but not quite as good as the first movie. I think I'd rank it 4th in the series after 1, 3, and the remake.

Part 2 was a little better than the original, concerning the children all being like-able characters in Part 2. However, I disliked basically all of the adults in Part 2. Many of their death scenes were welcomed by me!
In the Original, I liked many of the adults and some of the children. Maybe that makes the Original better, in that regard. Ah, it's hard to decide between them they're both good in their own way.

I definitely prefer the first one. This one wasn't terrible or anything, but I felt like it was a step down in many regards, like the children being nowhere near as creepy, or this overall tonal shift towards (half-hearted) humor. I also didn't care much for the "poisoned corn" subplot. The first movie had clear villains: He Who Walks Behind the Rows and his cult of murderous children. This one had the children, the supernatural threat and a community of conspiring citizens trying to sell bad corn. There are also little things I found silly or annoying, like the scene at the very end with the ghost(?) of Red Bear walking away and disappearing, or that clumsy sex scene.
Anyway, I don't hate the movie, but I was undoubtedly more entertained by the first.

Original was better, but I did really love this one as well. Its my fourth favorite of the series 🙂

Totally. Best atmosphere (feels like an old Hammer Horror film at times), best villain, likable characters, fun deaths. It's easily the best of the entire series, imo. Can't believe some people in this thread are actually praising the third film. That was appalling.
