He Who Walks Behind the Rows is the evil corn deity that the children worship in all of the Children of the Corn films. It first originated in the first film, and has gone through all 7 films. The children kill the adults and sacrifice them and give their blood for the corn which is where the deity lives. Hence, He Who Walks Behind the Rows. He lives in the endless rows of corn. Hope I helped let me know if you want to know more about any of these films.

Right Children of the Corn is based on the Stephen King story of the same name in his book Night Shift. The story doesn't have the kids fleshed out as much and all I'm going to say is the heroes don't have the same peachy outcome in the story as they do the film.

Actually, only the first COTC movie is based on the short story. The others are direct sequels to the movie. I guess in a way they are linked to the short story. Its pretty funny how many sequels they did. But hey, everythings gotta start somewhere.

Well,He
s A Preacher. To Them,ANY POWERFUL INHUMAN FORCE that DOESNT follow Their Beliefs about God MUST BE OF THE DEVIL.Now,I HAVEN`T read The Stephen King Short Story BUT in The Film Franchise,He seems more like The God of The Old Testament WITHOUT the Hypocrisy. -

"He who walks behind the rows" is described in the book as being a massive "thing" that comes at night that has glowing red eyes so big, they are the size of footballs. They never give any real description of it's appearance other than it's green, and that it smells like rotted corn husks. Other King lore says that it's one of the many forms of Randall Flagg, a popular Stephen King villain who's known from The Stand and the Dark Tower series.

In The Films , " He Who Walks Behind The Rows " is revealed to be The Spirit of Josiah , The Original Boy Preacher who was used to bring in crowds at a carnival and was poisoned with Mercury to keep him young by the owners , killing him ! Naturally , this made him bitter against all adults !

You mean Josiah from the 4th film? I thought he (and the film) were a completely different entity that had nothing to do with the canon of the previous films, such as it was.
