Nobody talks about how good a psychogical thriller this movie was

Macaulay Culkin played outside of his usual type and that didn't go over well with audiences according to the critics.
I thought Macaulay did a great job at being that creepy sociopath kid. The kid next door that nobody guess was like totally screwed up. The most chilling part of the film for me was the end where his character tries to make the mother chose to save him from falling off the cliff rather than Mark.
Essentially that act, the chose she had to make was him pleading for love.
So sad.

I saw it two decades ago, so don't remember much of it, except that end scene. Who would forget such a disturbing scene, especially having involved with children. If they were grown-ones, it would have been a different scenario.
By the way I've seen some Indian film that copied that similar circumstance for a love triangle. Here it is at 8:30

Yea, I always liked it and loved the idea of Macaulay always being a Villian and I thought he played quite well. Though he had a very short career I'm glad he was edgy enough to try outside the box.
I really did like the premise and the environment of the film. I am a bit surprised it did so well at the Box Office seeing how many people panned it and nobody really knows about it or talks about it.
