I really didn't get this one part, I mean what was so important about her being from miieapolis?

I hated that 'There's no "Whatever the school's name was' in Minneapolis.' line.
One, even if there wasn't, why would you embarrass a client like that in a bank? It's none of your goddamn business, he's opening an account and you're making small talk. You don't treat customers that way, especially since there's absolutely no reason you would assume something sinister about the man. Other than 'he doesn't want to talk to me', which he establishes not ten seconds later when he says 'I'm running late, is this going to take long?'
So what do you do in that instance? Do you assume he must be a presidential assassin, or do you assume he's a dickbag? The 2nd one, obviously. There's no reason for him to kill her because she doesn't know anything.
Second, according to Wikipedia, Minneapolis has a metro population of 3.3 million people. Even assuming 2.3 million at the time this movie was made, what happened here? Malkovich runs into the one bank teller with the photographic memory of every high school name in a city of two million people?
Absurd. You look at her reaction when she sees him at her house, she's already forgotten about him. Waste of time on the part of the 'master assassin'.

She knows his face and his voice. It is never a waste of time to clean up loose ends, and that is exactly what he did.

I know the name of every school because we play them in sports, even some of the suburban schools. And we have debate teams too, and cheerleader contests. All sorts of ways that you just know all of the schools.
I guess it's like looking at clouds. You see one thing and I see another. Peace. -

I guess he killed her because she caught his lie and he wanted to cover up any loose ends apparently. What gets me, then if he is that careful why did he then give it as a clue over the phone to Horrigan? (His line: "Some people die simply because they're from Minneapolis")
