What ever happened to the first pregnancy she had? The one from the rich man. Her mother says she pocketed the money for the abortion.

I think that she was pregnant but that Jed did the abortion since they were already lovers, or perhaps she found him and then it happened. To Tracy, men were just tools to use in her con games. The one way in which she misjudged Jed was that he wasn't willing, as she was, to kill a child in order to stay out of jail. Neither of them realized that the boy next door was blind.
