She constantly down-talks the drug dealer lifestyle, yet LIVES SOLELY on its money.
She ignores her boyfriend in prison (she should, but still) yet acts surprised that he'd rather speak to Caine on the phone.
    She was annoying.
    Anyone agree?
"I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus."
    "Didn't he discover America?"
    "Penfold, shush."

      She was awful.
And an awful mother in general.

That part of the film is kind of aggravating. The money she and Anthony lived on was money Purnell had put back for them. Though it probably was from the sale of drugs, she and the child did have to live on it. She was trying to go to school and get a job to be able make things better as she was at one time a part of the scene that she no longer approved of. Rightfully so because now, she had a child to think of. What I don't understand is how she could still hold the coldest grudge on Purnell after 5 years. Apparently he did what
he did and ended up in prison. I can understand her initial
disappointment and anger but to still treat him with such hate after years is kind of silly. I think she should've been a little more forgiving after all those years as they were once in love. I can't see the sense in constantly treating him with such hatred and rudeness. Get over it and move on. Give the man some degree of respect if its for nothing more than him being the father of the child. To be incapable of treating him civilly after all this time is dumb.
        hatred and rudeness

          Yeah, I agree.
Pernell screwed up. He's already being punished. It's already been a few years that he's been stuck in prison and will suffer for the rest of his life by being in there. No need to make him feel any worse.
At least he tried to help her out and got a house for her.

I didn't get the impression that she was an awful mother. I did question why she allowed her son to be around her friends, particularly a violent psychopath like O-Dog. Caine took the clip out when he pistol-whipped Chauncey but there was still one round in the chamber, it could have went off. I would keep my son away from that group.

If I were her I nor my child would ever hang around. Her friends were way too dangerous
