I think he will do his time and get out of the jail clean. Then of course, go back as he promised. He can't run away from his resposibility(jail) anymore because he's found something/someone he cares.

Hard to say. I dont know how long the jail - period will be.
But i of course think if he would come back with succes, if not something comes up if it be around 10 - 20 years. After 20 yers tough its not really
realistic. But the biggest problem in any case is Clydie.
If you think about her bad behavior. Always twist here mind around.
It wery possible she finds a new man pretty soon.
What a feel for the ending i think not he will come back again, im afraid.
Sam is realy taking farewell, and the atmosphere in the wery sad scene is hopelesness, that Clydie and Sam desperatly fighting. They know the trough.
Maybe just not want to show it to the Children.
And the last scene frezes where Sam is taking goodbye. That is for me a sign of
THAT was the last we ever saw of him. And there is the end, because there is no scene after that. If the makers wanted it to end happy they would maybe have shot another scene where Sam coming walking to the house and hugging the children to happy music.
The Sheriff meant to Sam when hes handcuffing him that the time in Jail maybe can be shorter because he saved some lifes. Im not so sure. He did also escape and did fighting two Sheriffs in the process. That most go 1 to 1.
        Maybe worse.
Its sad, but its a good ending. Because its fresh and moore realistic.
Its even i min my opinion one of the most sad scenes ever.
Dawn of the Dead 78 is the best movie ever.

I enjoyed the scene thoroughly because it was a sign that this nightmare was going to end soon.

            Naw.
First, department of corrections guards were killed
and injured. He fled from a department of
corrections officers, then he fled from law
            enforcement.
The kids are going to be very old and Rosanna
will likely be dead when he gets out of prison
            this time.
Unless the happy endings fairy godmother intervenes somehow.

I don't think so. Probably he would stay in prison for more than 20 years having in count he escaped. I think that was the starting mistake for him.
This was a very good movie, very different from the other Van Damme's. It really surprised me.

He should have saved the tape recording from his buddy thanking him for taking the rap.

It's like that cop said "you saved a lot of lives here, that ought'll count for something". this movie sucked man! he didn't even do his spinning split kick. the fight scenes blew beep any clown could do those scenes.

What I'd like to know is would the cop have to answer for any of his part in what Hale & Dunston did? And do you think Clydie would find out or even suspect him of anything (not Sam, but the cop)?
                        : )
