The story behind the whole HIV test thing was she had kissed Q-Tip in the drive in scene and she got sick, so her people (I say that b/c even pac himself said he didn't know if it actually came from Janet herself) wanted him to take a test as a precaution. He refused saying he would only take one, or even multiple, if he was actually going to make love to her. Also, the kissing scene was supposed to be an actual love scene, but John Singleton said it was raining at the time of filming (you can tell in the scene) so they scratched the idea and just had the two kiss, and leave the rest to the viewers imagination.
Janet never explained the changing of her number incident, but they both said they showed each other a lot of love when they saw each other afterward, and pac called her his homegirl for life. I also remember reading an article where she said she had a lot of fun with pac on set, and recalled an incident where Pac was getting ready to go back to LA to get a Tattoo, and she said "But we're not supposed to leave the set," and he looked at her and called her a square lol. She said he liked him because he was sweet and silly (sounds like her and michael, who both love to act silly).
You have to remember this was her first film role, and the first role where she really had to get intimate with somebody. So it might have been awkward for her, but it might have not either. I just know I love this movie because they are my two favorite artists in the music industry, and I love Janet because she is so not Janet in this movieat all lol

2pac said in an interview they were either going to have a water-gun and/or water balloon fight the day after filming wrapped. Janet was cool with it,but not only did she not show up the next day,she changed her phone #

I think they had awesome chemistry. Janet said on Jay Leno in 04' it was very easy for her to kiss Tupac

I agree the chemistry wasn't there. Also, in an interview Tupac openly said that Janet turned her back on him when the movie was done.
Of course Janet would say that in 2004, with Tupac long gone and being a rap music icon. In '93, when the movie came out, Tupac and his music wasn't really that popular.

Why would she even mention it if she didn't feel it? I'm sure she feels the actions of her people childish not that we know a lot more about aids.
In 93' Tupac was super popular! What are you talking about?

In 1993 Tupac wasn't that popular, really. He's an icon now, but back then, his first album just came out. Even though Juice came out a few years earlier, I don't think that the verdict was really out on Tupac at that point in his career; and he was still popular in mostly rap circles. Though you say he was super popular, he didn' cross over like he did in 1995 and especially in 1996. Strictly For My beep went platinum but didn't have any top 10 hits. Lots of people who were buying rap bought his CD, but its not like "Holler If You Hear Me", "Trapped", or "When My Homies Call" were hit records. They weren't. My memory of that time was that he was coming up, but he wasn't quite "there" yet. When it comes to rap, 90% of the time I am right.

^People now have successful albums and don't have top 10 hits (Nicki Minaj has released 5 videos and no top 10 hits from her album). Sure, Tupac wasn't the icon he is today but he wasn't some nobody. Wasn't the height of his popularity but he was far from a nobody.

^ Right. Pac was steadily ascending by the time this movie came out. He had already had his debut album and had been in Juice. This movie came just weeks/months before "I Get Around" and
                      Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z.
He was only 30 seconds away from being superstar '2Pac' when this movie came out.

I think their performances were well aligned with a story that dictated there be noticeable tension and slight resistance between them until the very end when they finally learn to drop their guard and feel totally comfortable with each other. I enjoyed the chemistry between Pac and Janet and the movie connected with me because of it.

I still like the movie, but their lack of chemistry does take away from the movie. They did make a beautiful couple based on looks, but the romance was not believable.
