Well, it was sort of a movie trying to boost two music stars careers but failed miserably. Such as Get Rich or Die Tryin, Kazaam, and In the Mix are examples. Maybe they weren't as decent as this movie, but this movie was annoying and cheesy. Janet Jackson is such a bad actor. Tupac is mediocre, but Janet is down right awful. Her face is messed up and she always smiles and it makes me want to punch her in the face. She resembles Michael Jackson sort of. I thought this was called "Poetic Justice," but instead it was a love story.
Also, not concerning this movie, but that song and video Usher made on the CD as a kid was disturbing, because he sounded so gay and the music video was so pathetic and ddn't make sense. Usher should burn, baby burn. -

How about you know what the hell you're talking about before you go running your mouth like a motor. lol
Trying to boost music star careers? This movie didnt come out in 1982. This is 1993, and Janet Jackson had just came from her highly successful 4th album ("Rhythm Nation"), why would she need a career 'boost' so to speak? Janet is an experienced actress since she was a child (with Good Times, Fame and Different Strokes) where as the movies you mentioned above [in an attempt of comparison] the stars had not. You thought this movie was called "Poetic Justice" but instead it was a love story? Oh, well, I think the title underneath that clearly indicates it was a "Street Romance" should of told you otherwise.
Also, I dont see why some people say Tupac was "so much better". Oh yes, because there was
so
much to his role lol Give me a break. Singleton even said himself in his commentary that 2pac just acted as himself.
Janet always smiles. And its annoying. Okay. Now I'm convinced you're on something. First of all, she's frowning and looking pissed off for about 70% of the movie, lol Second, if the scene requires you to smile, than thats what you have to do. WTF, that was a lame argument.
She resembles Michael Jackson sort of. Well I would HOPE so since he's her
brother
. Janet is
goregeous
and so beautiful in this movie, I dont know what the hell you were watching. Nobody could make doo-doo braids look so good lol (But even if you disagree, what the hell does someone not looking good have to do with the quality of the movie? That's a little shallow isnt it?) And if anyone was looking awful it was Regina King.
Speaking of which, Regina and Joe Torry we're great and so damn halarious as Iesha & Chicago. You're not supposed to take it THAT seriously. Perhaps the problem is that people are expecting too much out of it lol -

Easily, this is the worse John Singleton movie of all time. It had no real message, a poor script (a litany of "F U's" between Janet and Tupac) and some pretty bad acting. I'm surprised this pathetic movie got a "5" rating.
All the world's indeed a stage and we are merely players, performers and portrayers. -

Worse Singleton movie? Therefore meaning you put this below Baby Boy, Hustle and Flow, High Learning?
Please.

I'll place it below Baby Boy and Higher Learning, though those were awful too. Hustle and Flow was a great movie, IMO but it was directed by Craig Brewer. Not Singleton.
The Point of a Journey is not to return.
