That was a considered possibility by both of us. But, the versions we've watched since then all have roughly 10 seconds of puking. In the theater, we both vividly recall seeing lots more people getting hit directly with vomit, and bucket after bucket AFTER BUCKET of puke hitting the ground.
My mom also recalls the scene playing at least long enough to say something along the lines of, "Good lord, this is going on and on!" and enough time to lapse for another comment of, "Wow, will this EVER end?????"

What network did you watch it on? When it's on a cable network like HBO it is longer than 10 seconds. It shows the kids throwing up on other people and such.

Do you think he wants some cheese?

The latest channel I watched it on was Fox Movie Channel (not to be confused with FX, which definitely edits their movies for time and content). I don't know to what extent FMC edits movies, but it appeared to be mostly intact, with 'sh-t' being unedited several times.
I thought I had watched the DVD version as well, and it was shortened, but I could very well be wrong. I'll have to see if I can find it on DVD again!

It was definitely longer than 10 seconds. I'd say it went on for about a minute. I know in the mid-90s, ABC (not ABC Family) cut the scene altogether, which made no sense when Smalls tells his mom that he's not feeling well, but will be fine.

Are you sure you're not mixing memories with the carnival vomit scene from Problem Child 2? THAT scene lasts much MUCH longer

Haha! Yes, I'm positive my mom and I never went to see Problem Child 2 in the theater 😄
But, good theory! I remember that being pretty lengthy as well.

I have an old VHS I recorded of the scene back when the movie made its first HBO run back in like 1994/1995 and a VERY recent DVD version of the movie. The DVD version shows - as stated before - around 6-7 seconds of actual vomiting. The VHS actually shows almost everyone on the team puking, including a second shot of Ham puking where the people behind him are dodging chunks. This scene is MUCH longer (like 18 seconds). It may simply be that over the years the distributors just simply removed the scenes.

You should try to load it up onto YouTube. I would love to see it, because you don't see Benny the Jet vomit. I had always thought they refused to show him puking so as to not ruin his appeal. But then again, you never see Denunez neither So, please try to find a way to load it up, puh-leeeeeeeeaze! I would love to see, as with others, judging by their comments.

                    Post a video, please.
I think people are confusing this with Stand By Me or maybe even Problem Child 2. All 3 used to show on cable all the time. I haven't seen The Sandlot in awhile, so I can't even remember the scene without a refresher.

There is also always the chance that you may have gotten to see a screening of the movie before it was mass released.

I saw this scene on Youtube and it showed carnival patrons getting hit by the puke and girls screaming. (lolz!)
btw, what was that ride they were on? When I first saw it 11 years ago I thought it was one of those "sleigh ride" carnival rides but seeing it again it's definitaly NOT, lolz. It was a disc that spun around and went up and down, and it was called the "Trabant" or something.

                          It's a Tilt-A-Whirl; classic carnival ride.

Its not a Tilt-A-Whirl. The Tilt-A-Whirl is completely different ride. Below is a link to a video showing one.

Someone just posted a video of the scene; did you get a chance to see if it was the same one you saw in theaters? It's the same one I had on my VHS that was bought in 93 or 94. It's also the same one on my DVD.

I remember that as well, I was 12. I remember smalls puking on his shirt and making a crying type face, don't remember anymore than that though.

I remember seeing it in the theater rather well, but I don't remember the puking scene lasting any longer than it did on video.

I didn't see it in the theater, but I watched it last night and both my wife and I thought the scene was shorter too. I remember them getting sick and then some of them
                                      swallowing
the chewing tobacco, making them even more sick.
