Jim Morrison felt that he had the soul of an Indian. One story says this stemmed from an car accident he witnessed where he thought the soul of a dying Indian went into him. He and friends would go out into the desert to take acid trips, hence the surreal desert scenes. The desert and desert lizards figure into much of Jim Morrison lore. In concert he often compared himself to a Shaman whose function was to take the crowd to a higher plane. The Morrison scenes and the weird naked Indian were really funny.
