Phoebe lending Monica money

In one episode of season 4 (don't remember which episode exactly) Monica wants to start a catering business but doesn't have the money. She even says she needs money for all the supplies and stuff. Phoebe offers to lend her some money to get started but when Monica comes home with pots and pans for the catering, Phoebe reacts quite odd, asking for the money back and looks at the stuff Monica bought like the money was wasted on unnecessary things. Isn't that why Phoebe lend Monica the money in the first place so why did she have that reaction or was Monica supposed to use the money on something else than catering supplies?

Yeah that was annoying and obnoxious. Lending five hundred dollars and then expecting it back in one day is stupid. While obviously if you lend money you should pay it back as soon as you can, it had literally been a single day.

She also spent $600.00 on Joey. I think. it was some large amount. He tells her she broke his fridge, and owes him three or four, hundred dollars. Phoebe says ok, and mentions he owes her 6 hundred for sending out happy thoughts on his last 10 auditions.
If you're gonna pretend to cut her hair, at least put some scissors in your hand!

I do see what you mean. Some jokes, while seeming obvious can actually be interpreted in more than one way.
But I took it as happening given Joey's bum nature and just how stupid some of Joey and Phoebe's antics can get with the weird stuff they do, or get into. They were the characters who tend to have the weakest, or weirdest, plots
But it happens. In another thread on Phoebe someone went far as to mention that they feel half the stories about Phoebe's childhood are just stories that aren't to be taken seriously, and that they doubt Phoebe has experienced near as much as she talks about -so much she's just eccentric.
If you're gonna pretend to cut her hair, at least put some scissors in your hand!

We all think that way on certain jokes. lol
Or have the jokes that are obvious, but go over our head. Then you think "Damn, how did I miss that>"

The same Phoebe who
- Thought Everything that Rhymed was true. And that if she worked in stocks she'd have to live in a box, only eat lox, and have a pet fox
- That a mouse or opossum would call her in the morning, but realized it was silly -only because they wouldn't have a way to get money for the phone
- Thinks her rats will be set set free and meet a wisecracking owl?
- Believes in Aliens.
- Thinks that Joey not eating meat stops animals from dying while she eats it
- Thinks Joey is lucky to find a hand-twin
- Sees Ursula in a porno and thinks it's herself at first
- Relives a Psychic when she predicts she's going to die in a week
- Just recently learned about medicine side-effects, and spends an episode nagging Monica about them. And at first, thought the label was a story
- Relives her bike is alive, and that it will die if she doesn't ride it
- Thought a Vegas marriage was only legal in Vegas
- Agreed with Joey's idea that good-deeds that make you happy are all selfish
- Lets a bee sting her so it can look good in front of the other bees. Joey has to tell her the bee is dead after stinging her.

- Thought a fire alarm was speaking to her
- Says she has voices in her head
- Believes the spirit of an old woman is in her
- Sees Joey picked up a hitchhiker, then let him stay in the cap while she plays games with him, and gives him her address
- Went on a date with a stalker
- Gave Chandler millions of dollars to not smoke again
- Thinks that Alice + Frank jr. were actually going to give her one of his kids, and telling Rachel to ask, and say the baby is for her.
- Thought it was wise to talk to Mike's parents about sex with their son, and how a pimp spit in her mouth.
- Was mad at Ross for an entire episode w/o knowing why. Then realizing she was mad because of something he did as a dream.
- Believes in Mole People
Given Phoebe's track record, I don't think there's anything too stupid for her to do.
Monica, Chandler, Rachel, and Ross. Had any of them had that line, then sure, it's easily seen as patronizing Joey to get him to be quiet. But with Phoebe, that's another matter.
