I realize there's no way to prove this so you can believe it or not but my dad's third cousin was Lane Frost. I actually had the chance to talk to Lane's aunt who told me that the movie was decent but got a lot of facts wrong. For one, Kellie cheated on Lane multiple times whereas he cheated once. Secondly, the movie shows the bull run into Lane on a bright sunny day. Truth is, it had been raining for days, the ground was a mud pit and Lane slipped in the puddles and mud. He couldn't get his footing when he tried to run from the bull hence his being impaled. She told me she'd never seen so many cowboys all in one place as she did as his funeral. She also said that Lane's father was a good man and was nothing like he was portrayed in the movie, but the Hollywood folks wanted it acted that way. Luke Perry resisted and said he wanted it to be as true to the real life of Lane as possible, but Hollywood said "The father's character will be an ass or there will be no movie." Perry wanted the story of Lane's life told so badly that he consented. But Lane's father was nothing like the one in the movie.
So yah, for those interested, there's some trivia you won't get from a website. Only from family, those who knew the real story.

I think it's unfortunate that the movie couldn't have stuck to the facts, but dramatic interest often requires the kind of conflict that the movie depicted. In the movie, Lane's character is strongly motivated by his need for affection from a father who never gives him unqualified praise when he deserves it and who never says he loves him. That theme comes up several times, and it works very well as a dramatic element. It's also an important theme, because sons do in fact need to have good relations with their fathers, and all too many sons don't have those good relations. So I can understand why the producers said "We can't do this movie if everyone is getting along and everything is just fine. It won't sustain an audience's interest."

How do we REALLY know she cheated all those times and that he only cheated once? Seriously. I suppose that's how it is though, everybody knows everybody's business, or at least they THINK they do.

I have three boys ages 16, 12 and 9 and thay all ride jrn. bulls or poddys and the only things that thay know about Lane is what thay have read or seen on the movies and still some 20 years after Lanes death he is a hero to many here in Australia. My sons practices as much as thay can and all thay want is to be like Lane .My youngest even say's the o.k boys when he is ready to ride.So it does not matter who done what to us as he is still a hero 20 years later to people all over the world .

It really bugs me when someone comes on these boards and says they know someone, or are related to someone, and then everyone thinks they are full of crap.
This is the internet.the internet is available to people all over the world, including people that are related to/know people in movies or people that movies are based on. If I knew Lane Frost, I would be on here saying I knew him, and everyone would say I didn't. I don't know why people are in such disbelief!
              Anyone agree?!?

Well, I guess I can understand it in a way, because the Internet is full of people who misrepresent themselves and lie about all sorts of things. Of course it will always be that way, because everyone is anonymous.
I wrote the original post and it doesn't bother me because I know I'm not making it up. I didn't know Lane real well or anything like that, but I did know him.

He did have an affair when they was married I'm from a small town in Oklahoma where we do have some pretty familiar big timers well anyways my uncle had taken that little girl lane had after the affair and raised her…i can't tell you her name but i do still see this lady to this day she is very nice sweet and her last name is frost…also the reason she can't claim anything in the frost side is because Kelly was mad an upset at him after he died for having another kid so Kelly took her out of the will and didn't allow any ties to the name, fame, or land

Tiffanywood31, didn't know Lane or anyone related to him, but my family is full of rodeo fans and my cousin was at the Frontier Days rodeo when Lane was killed. She used to live in Fort Collins, Colorado which is less then 45 minutes south of Cheyenne. Anyway, she too said that it was a gloomy and rainy day and that the ground was muddy and sloppy. She also griped about the movie because the setting of Lane's death was all cheery when in fact it was anything but. No one in the crowd knew what was happening and when Lane fell the last time everyone thought he had slipped again. Everyone was initially told that Lane had the wind knocked out of him by the bull and that he was being taken out on a stretcher and to Memorial hospital as a precaution. She said that she didn't find out that Lane had died until that evening when watching the news.
She said that seeing him die like that was something she will never be able to forget and because of that she doesn't go to rodeo's anymore. She transferred back east in 1999 and now lives and works in Atlanta, Georgia.

                        y'all are being stupid.
you keep trying to outdo one another, saying that what happened to them 20 yearsz ago didn't really happen and your story's better. why can't you just accept the fact that this guy touched someone's life in someway or another and leave it at that.
