I'm supresed this wasn't banned in Canada.

By that rationale, Alan Alda, who is an American, would not be playing the U.S. President in this film; It contradicts your thought.

Micheal Moore really has a thing for Canada. Many of the comparisons the movie advocates in favor Canada show up in Moore's subsequent films.
-Canadians don't feel the need to lock their doors
-Better and more accessible health care and education
-Cities are cleaner (wellthat's what he thinks)
-People are more polite (again)
-Canadians aren't much into guns
Plus, I really didn't feel Moore was taking potshots at Canadians, but at US and how most Americans see Canada
-Mounties ride on horses and wear the red uniform (they actually) drive cars and dress like normal police officers)
-Snow covers the country 11 months a year (In the east, we get snow from November to early April, while on the west coast they get RAIN during winter)
-There's little to no crime (We've had our share of school shootings, serial killers, organized crime, drug trafficing and much more)
-We actually LIKE the metric system (trust me, we don't)
-Ann Murray is the biggest music star (Bryan Adams, Barenaked Ladies, Our Lady Peace, Leonard Cohen, Ashley MacIsaac, RushAny of those ring a bell?)
And he took some jabs at US politics quite openly, and dare I say presciently
-The government organizes an attack on its own soil to raise patriotic values and sentiments
I'm a French Canadian, and I probably laughed the hardest at the Dan Akroyd scene ("you know, pea-soup-eaters")
So I honestly don't see why it should've been banned. At least not here. I'm a little surprised it wasn't banned in US; They're a little more sensible as movie goers

"I'm a little surprised it wasn't banned in US; They're a little more sensible as movie goers" - So it would've been more sensible to ban the film? To me that is the antithesis of sensibility.

We actually LIKE the metric system (trust me, we don't)
I know this is over a year old, but I had to comment. I don't believe I've ever met a fellow Canadian who didn't like the metric system. It's a
heck
of a lot smarter than the imperial system.
And the RCMP does still dress in red and ride on horses. Not all the time, of course, but sometimes.
(This isn't meant as an attack on your post, by the way. Just saying.)
And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make. -

If a film said "America sucks" then it would be banned. We're used to Americans saying that Canada sucks, even from those who know nothing about Canada. But after the current events happening, this plot should even be re-made. When you consider certain circumstances, it wouldn't surprise me if the U.S. did start threatening us. I mean, we have oil after all, and it all goes south of the border. If we put a stop to that, we should be concerned for our lives.

ihy - Why do Canadians always say such stupid things?
Now, see, that's a generalization. Just because one Canadian on this board said one stupid thing, you assume that all Canadians say stupid things. Why, I do believe what you said was a stupid thing to say in and of itself. So here goes:

"That's easy. Look who their president is! It's called "Follow the Leader"."
LOL!!
Really, there are a lot of things on YouTube for example that attempt to make fun of Canada, But they don't offend us much.
Like the song Canadian Idiot by Weird Al Yankovich. I love it!

I think some people who have become prominent in American media take this film a little too seriously, i.e. Ann Coulter.

I'm Canadian, and I love this movie. Actually, it's the only thing I can stand by Michael Moore. Only bits I found offensive were the comments about Neil Young.

If you really want to find out what Americans are like, and why this movie is so spot on, go to Youtube and check out "Rick Mercer Talking to Americans". Point, set, match.

Congratulations Canada, on legalizing hats and making your national animal the Timbit!
Canada doesn't get upset about any insults any country throws at us, really. Unless, as stated above, someone says American beer is better, in which case it's time to beat some ass.

Making your national animal the Timbit! That is brilliant! Is that actually a Mercer or is it your own? Cuz if it's your own, you should be writing for Mercer! -

That was Mercer's but I've been told many times I should be a writer of some sort (mostly from fans of my website).
My friends and I used to have a big list of things like Mercer's Talking to Americans, some of which I actually duped Americans with while I was down in Florida. It's incredibly fun.

Why not post some of your lists here? You've got a fan in me!
