What does Douglas mean by "When did I have the power? When"

Anybody can explain to me what did he meant when he told her wife "When did I have the power? When"

He meant that he was working UNDER her, meaning she was in fact his new boss.
So he had absolutely no power over her to force her into anything.
But she did.
You simply cannot harass somebody above you in the food chain (unless you happen to have something on them or are buddies with THEIR higher up in which case you have unofficial power over them), for that would mean your immediate termination.
He was making that point. He had neither official/unofficial power over her, nor anything on her that gave him any leverage. Thus he was in no position to harass her.
