I thought The acting between Kathy bates and Jennifer Jason Leigh was so great . When Delores finally talks about the sexual abuse to Selina and she fires back calling her a liar etc. and storms upstairs , the morning when she came down and they looked at each other and selina looked so tormented and like a lost soul , delores had already packed her bag cause she knew she would leave really made me tear up , it was a very realistic scene as to what happens in dysfunctional familes .

I agree. I have always been pained by the disdain that Selena treated her mom with, while revering her father.
She had blocked that out when it came to the abuse of her father.
As for her treatment of her mother, anyone would have problems if their mother had been accused of murdering their father. Now she has to deal with another accusation of murder against her mother. She has already been screwed up enough. It's a wonder that she could function at all.

For me, the saddest part is Vera in throes of self pity. I can relate with her character, because I suffer from two debilitating diseases and will do so until my death. "If this is what comes to pass as living, I'll damn well say what I what."No, I won't. I'll never feel better. I never will." That scene is a knife blade in the heart. When Dolores gets out Vera's pig music box and plays it for her, I cry. It's a reminder to savor the littlest things even if they are all you have left to savor.
