That scene is extremely well acted but also incredibly painful. I hurt for Dolores, not just physically, but emotionally too. Her laughing at Joe is one of the few moments of happiness she experiences in the film (in fact, does she laugh at any
other
point?), and, sadly, its quickly followed by a brutal attack.
