Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Dolores Claiborne

This moment, to me, truly shows the magnificence of Judy Parfitt as Vera.
That close up, that smile, those glowing eyes, and the line to Dolores, "Remember, eclipse at five."
The line means one thing, but WE KNOW exactly what she's thinking.
    PHENOMENAL ACTING.

OMG she was WONDERFUL with her role. I love her elegant arrogance in this movie. This is one of my favorite movies and it's due to the divine acting of her, Kathy Bates and JJL.

I'm watching this for the hundredth time, and this time around I am really watching Judy Parfitt.
She does this thing at the end of her "Sometimes being a bitch" speech where she looks at Dolores off camera with her eyes full of tears then she drops her head just long enough to let the tears fall to that floor, then she raises her head and gives this defiant look. She commanded the camera.

I loved that scene. The so-called "hard riding bitch" showed that she wasn't so hard after all. What a perfect marriage of a part and an actress! What a perfect movie!

Favorite scene. Really, Parfitt was just as overlooked for the Oscar as Bates was. This film made so much noise. Such a shame so few people listened.

The line is "Remember, eclipse at five."

yes but the OP means that while her line is 'eclipse at five' her eyes are saying 'thats when you kill your husband'

I just watched this for the first time last night and YESshe was AMAAAAZING! The "Remember, eclipse at five," and "Sometimes their breaks fail as their leaving their mistress' house," lines as well as the intensity in her gaze during the entire monologue gave me goosebumps. Every cast member owned their role like a total boss
                      !
If we wanna hear you talk, I will shove my arm up your ass and work your mouth like a puppet!
