I think she gets the money after Joe died.
The bank can't give her the money back. Mr Piece (?) told her that Joe opened a new account, wasted $500, because he feld quilty because he made a mistake by not calling Dolores. But she didn't got the money back.
When she wants to kill Joe she saying that she barried the money in the field, but I think that was a lie. She wanted that Joe would chase her, so he would fall in the well.

Uh-uh. She dosen't get the money back feom the bank. She finds out he blew about $300, and uses that in order to anger him into chasing her- That way, he dies and she gets her money back from his assets.

Dolores tells Joe that she got the money back from the bank. She also tells him that he's "not supposed to do thatlie to the bankmake them break their own rules." He lied to the bank in order to take Dolores's money, and apparently she shamed the bank manager enough (as he should be), he listened to her and did the right thing. She also hints that Joe's in trouble because of it.

She gets the money back after he diesshe only TOLD him that she had it burried somewhere so he would chase her and fall down the well. He put the money in an account in just his name so there was no way that she could take it out or get it back. thats why vera said what she said about husbands dying and leaving their wives their money.

Vera was talking about herself.
Dolores probably did lie about the money being buried in the field to get Joe to chase herbut there's nothing definite about whether she got it back before Joe died or after. But considering how they left the bank scene, and the fact that she knew the exact amount that Joe had blownshe wouldn't have known if the bank hadn't given her some kind of access to the account and/or the money. I think she was telling the truth about getting it back, but not about burying it in the yard. -

I think she was lying to get him to chase her as well. She just told her husband that and that he lied to the bank, which he didn't, just to get him pissed off at her. She probably got it after he died, but I don't think that's what Vera was talking about. I don't think Dolores told her about him opening up a new account. She just told her he stole it.

"I know you dont have to tell me but did he open a new account here, or do I have to start digging holes around my house", asked Dolores to Mr. Piece the bank employee.
Mr Piece told her that Joe opened a new account and how much he already spend. But he broke a rule by telling that, but he felt quilty because he didn't phone her earlier when Joe went and got de money and lied about de passbook. He didn't give her the money back. Thats not possible, because it was only on Joe's name.
Dolores only told Joe she got the money back, because she wanted him to get pissed and follow her to the yard, so he would fall in the well. -

Yeah, that's the impression I got. She got enough information from the bank manager to make her husband think she took the money out of his account but she was not able to really get into it until he died.
I liked the three dimensional way they played the bank manager. He could have just had her removed but he did feel guilty and helped Delores in the only way he could. -

dont think so? if she made up? how would she know it was all there except $500 that she said he blew? she would have no idea how much was gone? if it was lie he would have probly just have taken all that money out and put money in pocket, not a new account? but either way she knew exactly what he spent? so that shows banker gave her info and considering it was her account! not his! that he took money out of? that money would have legaly been hers, he was the liar, either way? whether banker let her take money out (read book and made it sound like she did) her name would be on that new account at least! so ya it could have still been in bank? but she at least now had access to it again and pretty sure she cleared up not too let him do the lost bank book theory again? but he happend to have an accident before he got a chance too? it was an accident! haa

Exactly. People seem to be missing this. If she had gotten the money back from the back, then she wouldn't have been crying at Vera's house, even if Joe blew $500. She would still have used the remaining $2,500 to get "as far as she could". She was crying, hence, obviously the bank did not, I repeat, did not give her the money back. She only lied to get Joe to follow her where the money was allegedly buried, and in the end it also got him furious enough to chase her without minding his step.
