When the hooker calls Forrest stupid and Lt. Dan goes off on them. That's loyalty. Lt. Dan acts all gruff toward Forrest, but this really reveals how he feels about him. Very touching.

Agreed. Lt Dan had tons of respect for Forrest despite his aggressive behavior towards him.

I like Lt. Dan for that reason. I like him for other reasons, but that is one of them.
