I know and I sorta brought that up in another post above related to the running part which includes the video.
Am I the only or one of the few posters that bothers to read through every post instead of just the OP before replying?

So you think he started the running craze.
Other posters didn't think so.
The movie sorta implies he did but I think also leaves it ambiguous.
He picked up a following of runners where among some had probably never ran as much before or at all and yet we don't see anyone else going out for a run in their neighborhood inspired by FG.
What makes that part also funny is how clueless he is through it all and everyone around him treats him as if he is this great guru thinker!
As for the rest of the list, I find it curious that he wasn't even more famous than he was for being part of all these historical events and the accomplishments he did.

I do know what you mean. Running became the premier exercise modality of choice back in the 70s for non athletes. I don’t know that it was this movie but it may have been.
People and their fitness choices have been influenced by film before. The bodybuilding craze was started by the docudrama Pumping Iron and later bolstered by all the action films featuring jacked main characters. I think forest gump may have helped popularize running.
