Hahah! Naw, it's sort of this ongoing thang here, with a few of us who either really liked the movie, or really, REALLY hated the movie, lol. It's all good natured barbs.
I'm in the camp of enjoying it. I also did not read her book. To the surprise of many, I'm not particularly a fan of Anne Rice (except I enjoyed her Sleeping Beauty series). I read Interview, and Lestat, but she's not really my cup of tea in terms of how she can go off on tangents with excessive detail (again, something I, myself, am extremely guilty of in my own posts).
But yes, alas,…I did like the movie. Perhaps because I didn't read the book, I had nothing to make comparisons with, so I judged it on it's own merit.

No! I didn't even know she had a son. Go figure. I was more "in tune" with her many years ago, but I haven't really stayed up to snuff with her or what she's up to.
What is her son's name and what sort of things does he write about?
Truth is I tend to read mostly non-fiction, which is why I'm not familiar with so many of these fantasy novels. I focus a lot on history, biographies, military history, psychology, philosophy, health & fitness… I don't have much experience in non-fiction work when it comes to books.
Oh, except Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. I love their work!

I can't recommend this book highly enough if you want to delve into the unique world of Neil Gaiman:

These are extremely light-hearted and can appeal to all ages, so if you're looking for something very light with typical dry Brit humour, these are some of my favourites as well (by Terry Pratchett):
The whole Discworld series is enjoyable, and you don't really have to read them in order to follow along with them or appreciate them. Easy reads, and a way to just relax and have fun.

Yes! I saw that. I was always hoping that they'd make a movie out of it. I'm curious how this will turn out. I don't agree with the casting one little bit, so we'll see.

My all-time favorite British bit player Fred Wood is reportedly in this one somewhere. Gonna have to give it a rewatch so I can find Fred in it. Moreover, Wood is also reportedly in The Hunger as well.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.

Brad Pitt . Tom Cruise is more of a “movie star” .

Brad plays psychos and bad guys better than he plays a 'hero', I think. Tom, I've never had strong feelings about, one way or the other, but he was brilliant in Interview.
