THAT right there is what happens when you don't read all the source material and sit back and judge like you really know what you are talking about. Yes he is a good actor but no he does not get a pass for this performance. Just no and so many levels of no.
Neither does Cruise.
Banderas was a tad too old to be Armand, Cruise was just too ugly to be Lestat.
Yet you are entitled to have your opinion and no one else is?? How does that work.
The actors must be good. Antonio Banderas is a good actor, so his being a tad older than the book version of his character is forgivable. It would be ideal to have a cast of talented actors that all exactly resemble their book counterparts.
Tom Cruise doesn't get a pass. I already said he is a bad actor, but I was trying to be positive so I said he was perhaps at his best (or least worst) of his career in this movie. Also, for me he looked at his best too.

Tom Cruise had long hair in Interview with the Vampire. Fact, not opinion. (I assume it wasn't a wig or extensions, but even if it was, then he at least looked like he had long hair.)
I don't have an opinion on his long hair. My aesthetic taste means I think Cruise looked better in this movie with his long hair than he did in other movies with short hair. If you disliked his long hair, that's perfectly fine too.
There is room in this world for differing aesthetic taste. There is rarely room for differing opinions.

Okay. I'm talking about Cruise being good looking. You're talking about Cruise looking appropriate for the part.
I've already said that Cruise was a poor choice simply cuz he's a bad actor. If he also looks wrong for the part, then he's doubly miscast.

To me he was surprisingly impressive as Lestat,I'd previously thought he was a novelty actor in the manner of Adam Sandler.Yes the long hair suited.

I can't honestly say I remember seeing her in anything else.I suppose I have because Imdb says so,but she wasn't memorable for me.It's perhaps forgivable for a child actor.We once discussed the Harry Potter actors and how bad they were,are they still bad I wonder?
One day someone ought to make a truly mesmerising vampire movie. I'm still waiting.

My peers were into Friends. Was it aimed at girls more than guys? I don't know. I knew about the show in '94, but it didn't launch in Australia until '96, at which time the theme song became a chart hit. Weird.

Angry Jams has proven to be an unreliable witness. I was just trying to be positive. When someone earnestly and positively replies, I don't like to respond with my default sledgehammer negativity. Luckily most people are usually neither earnest nor positive online!
You are sensitive, which can make you vulnerable. I think being sensitive is a good thing. It's not a word I use with a sneer.
I think Adam Sandler is a really good actor, and almost everything he did from Billy Madison through to Click is among my favourites. His latest movies are mostly unwatchable to me.

I've seen her in Jumanji, where she was neutral, The Virgin Suicides, where she was ruinous, and Spider-Man 3, where she was embarrassing. In the late 90s and early 2000s she was pushed hard in the media as a glamourous talented actor, when in reality she is neither. Technically she is glamourous cuz glamour is an illusion of beauty but that's just splitting hairs. The worst thing in her career that I know of is Melancholia. It's bad enough when these rich kids play artist in Hollywood, but when they infect indie films it's it's well, it is really really bad. Melancholia had such potential to be a brilliant movie, but the money is right there, greedy and narcissistic, despoiling the whole thing with her clumsy pumpkin head and soulless eyes.

I haven't seen anything from Ron and Hermione lately, but I saw a scene from
Victor Frankenstein (2015)
recently where Harry plays Igor, the assistant to Dr Frankenstein. He's still an embarrassment.

I love Let The Right One In but it's a small and quirky tale. It only hints at the endless centuries of vampire life. I haven't seen Byzantium yet, but I've heard of it, and will see it eventually. Sorry, "eventually". Hmm, Jonny Lee Miller. Hopefully he's not in it much.A couple I know are getting married

I don't know either I'm just assuming,most of the people I know who enjoyed it are female or gay.My observations are that tv watching habits are different now to the way I remember.For example my father only seemed to watch the news and weather,tge odd documentary and the Two Ronnies.Now most of the 30-50 something men that I know avidly watch soaps and the X factor,my father would have seen that as very strange.My daughter doesn't own a tv,although they occasionally watch something through their iPad and my son only watches stuff like Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad.
On a side note I'm off work at the moment and am addicted to an Australian show called Nothing to Declare.One of the things people smuggle (or try to smuggle) into Australia is food,that seems crazy! One couple had about 30 packets of microwave popcorn.One guy had a suitcase full of reptiles in socks,he was on his way to Thailand.Anyway I'm way off topic.

I love the stories of Frankenstein,Dracula and Dorian Gray but found them a challenge to read and gave up on all three.I've watched many versions of Dracula,the Gary Oldman version is greatapart from Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder who were both shocking.The black and white Dorian Gray is the best (I've forgotten how to do the link thing),it features a young and talented Angela Lansbury.The best Frankenstein was a 1992 tv movie with Patrick Bergin.

Yes Let the Right One In is first and foremost a horror story and a love story.
Anne Rice covers the perils of immortality in her books,vampires who go underground for centuries through boredom or self immolate.I loved reading The Vampire Chronicles and her Mayfair witches books,she created an amazing world which totally drew me in.I just hope one day it gets translated to screen.

My observations are that tv watching habits are different now to the way I remember.
Broadcast TV is dying. People over 40 still watch TV out of habit. People under 40 use it less and less, or not at all.
The internet is so much more flexible and efficient than broadcasting through the air. Instead of a one-way signal going out to everyone at the same time, people can request a specific show whenever they want. That means a lot of the shows defined by the old broadcasting technology will die out. Cheap filler shows like reality TV, morning shows, infomercials and clip shows will have no audience in a world where people can watch their favourite primetime shows on their own schedule.
I can't watch commerical broadcast TV in real time anymore. The ads are insane. It's like being asked to do school homework again. I'd rather download something or buy a disc copy than sit through ads.
In wealthy countries I'm guessing broadcast TV will be shut off within 15 years in major cities, maybe longer for regional areas. Once people have internet fast enough to stream video, there's no reason to put up with the inflexibility of broacasts.

Yes, but LOTF was released seven weeks after IWTV, although LOTF was re-released on January 1995. So, which of those two films did Pitt film first? -

I can definitely understand where you're coming from. There were times in the film where Pitt was pretty damn bad.
BUT, he was also pretty good. In certain parts. It's hard to think of the Louis character now without seeing Brad Pitt.
The books do describe him as "The Beautiful One", so there's that, with regards to casting a "beautiful" actor. shrug I don't know, maybe I'm just talking outta my ass.
P.S. I couldn't help but laugh when you described his performance as a High School Play starring the 'Captain of the football team'. That was pretty funny. I can see why you thought that."I learned that in prison, you like? You white trash piece-a sht."
