Perhaps someone looked in a crystal ball and realized how badly the continuity was already screwed up with just one film, or that with the current cast, it wouldn't be financially viable to continue

I can't wait for it either. They really screwed things up with Queen of The Damned. It's total crap and reeks of Hollywood big wigs thinking they know more than fans. Hopefully they do it right this time.
Just remember, life without me would be even more unbearable!

He has his own far more serious film career, but seeing him in his own film, Tom at the Farm, Xavier Dolan made me think of Lestat. http://www.imdb.com/board/12427892/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_3. Admittedly in his normal life he doesn't look much like Lestat. I don't know quite what it was, but
        something
. I bet Dolan could make a dark adaptation of Rice's world in terms of filmmaking, let alone characters. Also, his heritage fits well with Lestat's French background. Well, it'd never happen, but I can imagine.
Jamie Campbell Bower looks like Lestat and seems to naturally have certain character traits that may lend themselves to playing him. I didn't used to rate his acting much, but I saw that The Mortal Instruments film and could imagine him as Lestat from that.
There's some French actor who was mentioned here once who l subsequently watched in some French films who looks very like Lestat and I could imagine him as such from the film though I have no clue if he even speaks English. I wish I could remember his name. He may be a little too old now though?? I'm so lazy I can't be bothered to go seek out the DVD.
To the poster who suggested it, Jared Leto could perhaps have been Lestat once, but he is more than double Lestat's age now.
I always found it harder to have a definite vision of Louis in terms of how he looked, but I can see Nicholas Hoult. I can imagine Dane DeHaan as Louis, but even moreso than this I can imagine he could play Armand - a role for which I think it is hard to imagine an actor remotely as Armand is described in the novels.

When I looked him up I kinda loved the choice of Xavier Dolan. He's a bit heavy on the "brat" side of the "brat prince" (at least from the look of his pics) but he looks great and it would be good to see him play something, if not the lead.
Jamie Campbell Bower seems a bit bony but has the right feel.
Jared Leto is just not right for Lestat at all. I've seen a lot of people suggest him but between age and general personality ( a little low key and soft spoken) I don't see it.
I saw someone suggest Charlie Hunnam above and he seems like he would make a slightly more raw and dangerous Lestat. Not quite the charmer he's written as. But if its a new darker version then it could work.

I think the main thing in reality is to get someone who can do the personality right. Lestat is such a fabulously written character, but I feel he would also be easy to make much more one-dimensional than he is when written. Yes, Lestat is The Brat Prince, self proclaimed!
But he is also tortured, sensitive, troubled, prone to deep depression. I feel like a lot of actors might just go with the sexy, brat-Lestat and maybe some might go for emphasising his depth but you need someone who can do both - someone who has the levity to pull of that brat in a celebratory, charismatic manner, but who can also show much more depth to the character. In the end, I think that's more important than how any actor looks. You need someone who'll be interested enough to read at least those three main novels, understand Lestat and be able to become him.
I guess if it's years away yet, maybe the actor who will play Lestat might now even be too young yet. I think it would work best for Lestat's character if, as he is written in the book he looks as though he could be in his very early 20's. Especially if The Vampire Lestat is made, Lestat's age when he was turned and the fact that he was on the verge of becoming a man is very important to the story.

He looks like a male Megan Fox and is likely just as untalented.

Danila Kovalev looks like the perfect Lestat. He IS Lestat. But he is a model and not an actor.

For Louis, I have no idea, but I honestly don't like any of the suggestions. When someone suggests an actor better than Brad Pitt as Louis, then I will be happy! But I don't think that will happen.

Lestat was based on Rutger Hauer's appearance, so I guess that makes you completely wrong.
When men gush over a stereotypical attractive woman you go nuts about how shallow we are. You're just as bad 😉

Are you serious? Gross. This, not long after hearing Margaret Mitchell wanted Groucho Marx to play Rhett Butler. Lol! What the hell is wrong with authors?

If this remake had been made ten years ago, Stuart Townsend would have been the best Lestat - just forget about Queen of the Damned altogether. And Heath Ledger would have been the perfect Louis. Right now, I can't see anyone in Hollywood as either. Maybe Lestat should be female in this. And who is going to play Claudia?

I didn't know there will be a reboot of all of Anne Rice's books. When I saw Interview With The Vampire it extremely satisfied me, although I still haven't watched Queen Of The Damned where Stuart Townsend was Lestat, I'm eager to still watch it even though the reviews were bad. But I'm looking forward to see what they will do in rebooting the entire trilogy. These are my casting choices for the Interview With The Vampire reboot/remake:
Lestat: Jamie Dornan, Wes Bentley, Keanu Reeves, Cillian Murphy, Michael Fassbender, Eddie Redmayne, Jamie Campbell Bower, Luke Bracey
Louis: Theo James, Aaron Stanford, Brenton Thwaites, Dylan O'Brien, James McAvoy, Sam Claflin, Josh Hartnett
                        Daniel Molloy: Jude Law
                        Claudia: Saoirse Ronan, Emily Browning
                        Armand: Stanislav Ianevski
                        Santiago: Benedict Cumberbatch
Madeleine: Isla Fisher, Dagmara Dominczyk, Charlize Theron, Rebecca Hall, Noomi Rapace
Also if Queen Of The Damned will be made along with Vampire Lestat these are my possible choices for only two actresses on who should play Lestat's love interest and the villain Akasha:
Jesse Reeves: Kaya Scodelario, Shaillene Woodley, Emma Stone, Emma Watson, Natalie Dormer, Dakota Johnson, Danielle Panabaker, Nicola Peltz, Olivia Cooke, Rooney Mara
Akasha: Kate Beckinsale, Beyonce, Shakira, Rihanna, Famke Janssen
These are my casting choices if Interview With The Vampire and its sequels will be rebooted over the next few years.

Jared Leto or Lestat PERFECT or Cillian Murphy
Hugh Dancy for Louis. Or James Marsden? Joseph Gordon Levitt?
Antonio AGAIN for Armand hahaha, I mean he's too perfect and hasn't aged too badly. Or what's his name the guy who is married to Penelope Cruise I always forget his name but he's a great actor.
No idea for Claudia. Can't think of any really good 12 year old actresses right now. Dakota Fannings little sis is actually really good but I think she's older than 12 now, holy crap.

So the latest news is that this is being made into a tv series, probably Netflix or something similar.
Anne Rice still maintains she wants Matt BOmer for Louis. She's open about who could play Lestat.
                              Interesting interview here:
                              http://www.ew.com/article/2016/11/29/anne-rice-vampire-chronicles-tv-show?xid=entertainment-weekly_socialflow_twitter
I'm going to watch the original tonight on Amazon prime.
