I completely agree with ^^ that ^^ comment. I actually enjoyed that movie primarily because of
(swoon)
Gary Oldman, of course, but also because of the subtly-mannered powerful performance of Jean Reno. He's another actor who, in my books, can do no wrong. (For reference, check out the movie
Wasabi- I'll post a trailer if I haven't already).
As far as Natalie's performance, it was… okay, but nothing specific or… spectacular that any other actress her age couldn't have done just as well. I don't think she brought anything
unique
to it. I don't like her one bit, as I find her insipid, vapid and overrated.

Agreed! My favorite part of her performance was the scene where she returns from the grocery store to witness her entire family being slaughtered. She plays it so cool too.
Then when she gets to Leon's door to be rescued, he kind of is too chickenshit to get involved. But she starts that crying and pleading for him to open the door cuz she knows that the corrupt detectives will figure out her identity.
Natalie is like the master of crying. I don't know where she pulls those emotions from. -

No, you're not alone. That movie is my least favorite Scorsese directed. I just did not like the plot at all. But Cybil Sheppard looked absolutley stunning.
I would say watch the movie just to see Cybil although her character is not in much of the movie. Her character is important to the plot but the movie has more scenes of De Niro and Foster. -

Gangs of New York didn't interest me at all. The Departed was his best imo. Well it's hard to chose which film was the best Scorsese directed because so many films he directed were excellent and very entertaining. Lots of quotes and memorable scenes. The plots were easy to follow as well.
I guess I just like his style.
Personally, my favorite film Scorsese directed will always be Goodfellas.
