The best comedy ever made

Interesting - I was thinking of this movie today. For the time I saw it in theaters as a young teen, it was the hardest I had ever laughed, and still might be. I don't consider it the funniest movie ever or best comedy, per se, but when I think back on what movie, when I first watched it, was the funniest to me, it's this.

The "best ever" title for any movie, book, album, song, etc., is obviously subjective. This movie? It
is
a great comedy that deserves to be mentioned among some of the best, for my money. Nostalgia aside (I've probably seen in it more than any other comedy out there myself), I seriously think it's brilliant as a live action cartoon. And sure, Carrey is a BIG reason why I say that, but Jim Doughan, Richard Jeni, Peter Riegert, and of course Max the dog also deliver some unforgettably funny performances that make this movie an even bigger joy to watch.
Carrey's wacky comedy ain't for everyone, but it works so well here.

I just watched it today. One of those films I always knew about but never got around to watching.
Jim Carrey had three films released in 1994. This one, Dumb and Dumber, and Ace Ventura. Quite a year. And while they are all comedies they also feature Carrey in very different roles.
This film is maybe the least funny of the three but I can see it being considered the most entertaining. Tons of energy, unique, clever, some surprisingly good CGI, and I doubt Cameron Diaz has ever looked more luminous.
