Quentin Tarantino doesn't make cups of tea, he pours shots of whiskey so maybe you just couldn't handle it but don't say it's not groundbreaking because it was.
There is no other movie like Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs because they are unique and badass and they break the conventions of what a movie can be.
Not everyone is going to enjoy that. I don't really like his movies much either personally, but they are certainly impressive in their own right.
Fight Club is better though. -

Yeah, PF was always a little overrated. The acting and writing was pretty good and I especially love Sam Jackson's scenes. But the fact that it was non-linear and different than pretty much anything made before it convinced most audiences it was better than it was. About 7.5/10 for me. I do agree that Fight Club is better, that one is 10/10 and on my favorite list of all time.
No sense in complaining about the ratings though. Its always gonna be coinciding with the mainstream audience's way of thinking. I find that if I like/dislike movies at different levels than everybody else does, I'm at a good spot. -

The claim that PF was not a very good movie is not new and it has been shared by many film critics back in the mid 90s. It's a pastiche of American culture wrapped up in witty dialog. The famous diner scene between Vince and Mia pretty much sums up the entire criticism of it. It's a scene that contains a dance sequence that serves no real purpose to the story and takes place in a retro diner where the two characters are surrounded by American cultural icons as eye candy.
Never the less, all the critics of Tarantino (and there are a great many) do all have to concede that he is a very very good script writer and director regardless of their thoughts or dislike for Res Dogs and PF.
I personally an a fan of PF.
The thing to keep in mind about PF is you got to keep it in context to the year and era it was released.

PF created an entire new type of film that could be made back then. No one ever wrote or make something like RD or PF. If Tarantino didn't make PF you would have been seeing safe bet John Grisham book sequels forever and ever.

I have been thinking about your post. Its possible you are seeing what some of Tarantino's early audience who disliked him and his films. The issue they had was that he made flashy films that had little substance. All colors and pastiche of the outside but pretty hollow if you try to go deeper. The films were accused of being flashy in that they were hip, had good art direction and snappy dialogue. But if you looked closer at the films, there as nothing else there.
An interesting tab bit about PF was the death of its main character, Vince was handled. Vince is sort of setup as the main character who ties all the different stories and chapters together. In the second chapter, Butch just kills him off in the toilet and the audience didn't give two hoots about it. There was no reaction. It was about the same reaction as what the audience felt when they saw Wallance shoot the innocent bystander woman in the hip. They didn't care.
Maybe the reaction to Vince being killed off was indifferent because it was quirky. Maybe it was because, Tarantino, for all his mastery of script writing and knowledge of pop culture and film, really didn't give that character much in the form of human qualities; so when Butch killed him off so suddenly, the audience really couldn't care less.

OMG. Inglourious Basterds was THE worst movie he made. Django Unchained? I bought it on blu-ray and watched it once and never felt no reason to watch it, again, but I remember someone saying DU was their favorite movie by Quentin on IMDb. Maybe I'll watch it, again. I really don't even remember DU. It just seemed like a regular movie from the little I remember.
