Plus,

had the same scene with
the rocket sled burning up bad guys as it launches

Speilberg ripped off Satyajit Ray's "The ALien" script. It never materialized into a movie but the script was ripped off by Speilberg and created both Encounters of the 3rd Kind and ET from it.
