Does Congress have to authorize strikes against Iran?

Or are we not that kind of country anymore? There are lots of indicators that an attack will happen soon. Could be bluffing but to what end I don't know.

They used to try to make a justification, however weak. Clinton's strikes against Iraq didn't have Congressional authorization but he pointed to an unrelated resolution supporting regime change from earlier in the year and various UN resolutions.

If we’re under attack, prez can authorize. If we want to go to war against someone or have a military strike, purportedly congress needs to approve. It’s not adhered to by most of the recent administrations of the past decades.

Anymore? We haven't been that kind of a country for a very long time. The anger or indifference on this issue at any given time is all dependent on who is in office and who you voted for.
