Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Mad TV

the writers & actors weren't afraid to go that "Extra mile" & they were all so naturally funny & had great chemistry! Did they ever read cue cards? If they did it was waaaaaaay less obvious than when they do it on SNL. Everone on SNL now are like comedy robots & i hardly ever laugh at the show anymore (stopped watching a while ago. too painful to watch!). SNL now is like the last 3 seasons of MADtvCRAP! lol wish they'd bring MADtv back anyways, or at least have some damn reruns on TV 😕

SNL had its share of chemistry between performers over the years, but there was indeed something magical about the way Michael McDonald paired with Mo Collins or Chris Hogan with Lisa Kushell. I'd argue the performers from MADtv were funnier than those that came from SNL, I don't know why not a single one of them became famous. Almost all of them between Seasons 3-5 were massively talented and hilarious to watch.
They don't call me Col. Homer cause I'm some dumbass army guy!

Your wish has been granted haha!
Just watched the first ep back, and while it doesnt have a lot on the old seasons. Something is there, something that felt like original MADtv, and I laughed my ass off, so going to give it a go and keep watching.
p.s. 100% agree with you about SNL. SNL RIP, the show died in 1999. The next 15 years have just been people watching and willing it to be as good as it was almost 2 decades ago. Kind of like the MADtv fans in the last few seasons, before the come back.
I don't let them tell me what to do (looks at dolls) I don't ..let them tell me.. what to do!
