Can't hold that against the movie. Bugsy was dead for decades by that point.
And I don't mean follow up as in it's the exactly like Goodfellas. But there are several similarities, and along with Mean Streets, Casino and Goodfellas make a sort of unofficial mob trilogy.
So many stories, so little time. -

You can't have a movie about monsters taking over Vegas without Bugsy. So make the setting during his reign.

What? That it's about monsters and the director is Martin Scorsese? -

You can't have a movie about monsters taking over Vegas without Bugsy. So make the setting during his reign.
Then the premise is ruined because the story is a loose adaptation of real events. The story isn't about the mobsters taking over Vegas, that's already happened. The story is about the collapse of the mob's hold on Vegas. Can't have that during Bugsy's reign.
What? That it's about monsters and the director is Martin Scorsese?
The narration, many cast and crew returning, the arc of the protagonist achieving success and having it all come crashing down, being based on a true crime novel by Nicholas Pileggi, etc. There are many similarities. And that's ok. Nothing wrong with that.

I don't need an explanation of events. I know the movie better than you do, Preacher.
We got gyped cuz you can't have a great movie about monsters and Vegas without Bugsy. Either mention him or put him in the damn film. It's my only gripe.

That doesn't make it a trilogy though. -

There's no need to be rude. We're just discussing a movie. Casino just left no room for Bugsy. It wasn't the story of his Vegas. It was a story of the fall of the mob's control decades after Bugsy was dead.
And sure it can still be a trilogy. A trilogy doesn't necessarily have to be following the same characters and story. Carpenter has his Apocalypse Trilogy. Sergio Leone has his Dollars Trilogy. Edgar Wright has the Cornetto Trilogy. And there are many other unofficial trilogies. Either way, there are a lot of similarities between Goodfellas and Casino regardless of whether they're part of a trilogy or not.

Are you not comprehending what she's saying? She said that the director should have made a movie with the character Bugsy in it or at least mention the man.
He's not doing it any justice cuz Bugsy was the guy that had the vision..organized crime like that in Vegas wasn't a concept until Bugsy made that happen.
Pay attention. Know you're history.

But it's a movie set around real events that happened after Bugsy was long dead.
Exactly. The whole point of the movie is chronicling how the mob lost its hold on Vegas, which happened many decades after Bugsy was dead. It'd be like making a movie about the Clinton Presidential scandal and being upset that JFK wasn't featured in it.
There's really no need. The story works fine as is.

I can't believe it took more than this:
Can't hold that against the movie. Bugsy was dead for decades by that point.
The movie just wasn't about how the mob got established in Vegas. Had that been the story, then yeah, for sure Bugsy would've been a part of it. But that just wasn't the case. That's not the story the novel told, and that's not the story Scorsese told.
So many stories, so little time. -

You really are clueless. You keep talking about the story Scorsese made up and saying it's based loosely on events.
But what she's saying is that it would have been more authentic to have Bugsy in the movie about the mafia and vagas since it was his idea.
Now people associate Casino with Goodfellas.

I'm so sick of people changing the subject to insult Donna.
The facts are the facts. Scorsese totally ignored Bugsy. He makes it seem like Nickie and Ace brought organize crime to Vegas and they brought it down.
Not true.
