overrated movie that should have only gotten 4 at most
the fact that it got more than 6 obviously means that the majority of those ppl a)haven't seen too many movies, or b)seen too many hollywood crap, either way there are much much better films out there, whether it be action(Hard Boiled) or translated from Anime(ichi the killer) -

I think it's a decent enough film. Dacascas has a definite quality to his martial art (capoiera I believe) and it's a pleasing difference to some of the "same old same old" stuff that's out there.
It's just a shame that Dacascas' acting skills aren't as high as his fighting skills! -

I am an huge fan of Bill Hicks. I read I belive 4 perhaps 5 of the graphics novels of the preacher series and yes it was a very good read up until there was a serious slide in the plot. I just could not read anymore rubbish when that irish vampire started getting all lovey dovey for the preachers women and then we had this dawsons creek love triangle nonsence. Up until then it was well worth reading, im told it get's better in the latter novels, but I just did'nt have the patience to read such tripe in the middle.
Did'nt know he was a fan of the great Hicks though. -

By my book it's a 7.5 and I am not as generous as IMDB users. For a 5m budget, Christophe Gans pulls off an amazing movie, visually perfect with a strong manga script. Uses all the tricks in the book, buying stock shots to spare on costs, and still manages to put in references to his favorite periods of the cinema. The commentated version - especially the giallo knife murder scene - is a must as you realize how much the guy knows about movies. After all he at the age of 22 founded the only relevant French movie magazine.
So if you speak French, get the director's version and go to Ebay buy yourself a couple of old issues of Starfix. If you don't, don't miss this gem anyway and put it in your DVD collection right between the Crow and I don't know Kill Bill or Ghost dog. Enjoy!
Merci Christophe et bonne chance pour la Belle et la Bete! -

I just saw this in blu-ray, stunningly beautiful. The colours are perfect! Visually i give it a 10 anyday. Story is weak but dreamy, and some scenes are kind of cliche, but hey its manga. Extraordinarie fighting scenes and an awesome soundtrack. Its worth at least a 7!
