The tie in novelization stated that he was Bulgarian, but I've heard it said that the character was Polish. Also, he was said to have been one of Targo's minions, so could he have been Hungarian? Was it ever clearly stated what he was? Also, what language was he speaking?

Wondered the same thing. Not sure about the language. I always assumed since he was "one of Targo's thugs" he was Hungarian. Definitely former East Bloc though regardless.
