I was also 14 when I saw this in theaters. I missed those times when movies weren't spoiled by the internet. One could just happen upon a great movie and enjoy the ride.

It's one of the last movies that I saw with my dad. He isn't dead we just don't watch movies together anymore.
I loved it then and now. It's a very close second to the original, imo. Unfortunately every other Die Hard movie ranges from mediocre to GET ME THE HELL OUT OF THIS THEATER.

I watched it with my dad in the theater when I was a young man, great movie that I was talking about all summer, similar to Terminator 2!

Yup. I was 12 and it came out 2 weeks after my birthday. I'm from the NYC area and I remember there were ads covering buses and the billboards were everywhere for it. I was already excited for the movie but all that just put it over the top

Late sophomore year of high school, saw it with a couple friends after working on a speech class project video about a mad bomber blowing things up in our home town. Almost the oldest one in the thread so far, not quite

I saw each of the first three DIE HARDs in the theater, though I've seen the most recent two only on VHS/DVD. (I like 'em all, even the universally reviled A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD.)
Two quick sidenotes about seeing the first two. I watched the original
                      for free
. No, no one paid for me or anything; I was listening to a local radio station one afternoon, many months after DIE HARD had debuted, and the DJ announced a promotion in which if a listener went to the theater and mentioned the station's call letters ("WBLJ"), he or she would be granted instant and free access. Naturally, I took him up on that and was rewarded with a film that has since made its way into my personal, all-time Top Ten.
As for 2 ("DIE HARDER"), this was set on a snowy night just before Christmas but was released in JULY (a sweltering one, at that). My brother and nephews and I had a great time watching it in the thankfully air conditioned theater and even began to get a little cold during the finale in all of those mounds of snow. Walking back to the car in 90 + temperatures thawed us out quickly.
                      Aw . . . memories . . . . Steve V.

Didn't see part 1 or 2 in the theater unfortunately. I saw part 3, 4, and 5 though. 3 was great, saw it in a General Cinema that no longer exists with one of my high school friends. 4 was terrible. I actually kind of liked 5, although it's not even close to being as fun as the first 3. It probably shouldn't have been a Die Hard film.
