If you like british flicks of the same genre, I'd reccommend both Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch.
And by the way, Big Trouble is nowhere near as bad as Wild Wild West, by any means.

How can you not like Big Trouble, that movie was funny as hell. All of the cast did a great job. Jason Lee was so funny in that movie and I loved the music.

For my money, Leonard Elmore's Big Bounce and Carl Hiaasin's Strip Tease are both right up there. colorful 'way out there' characters and satyric humor abound in both.
Elmore's Touch is also worthwhile, as is The Crew w/ Burt Reynolds.

To begin with, if you love Get Shorty, please save yourself time, money, and probably a broken heart and do not see Be Cool. It's just a bunch of cheap laughs an a knockoff of Get Shorty.
              Butthere is salvation.
I would suggest seeing Pulp Fiction..John Travolta again, playing a gangster lackey with his partner, played by Samuel L. Jackson. They're very similaronly Get Shorty is more of a comedy, although Pulp Fiction has it's funny moments. Both have great soundtracks though.

I strongly suggest Swimming With Sharks. It is about an assistant to who is essentially Jerry Bruckheimer finally snapping after having to deal with all of his BS for 2 or 3 years. Very amusing insider look, and a good movie as well.
Stars Kevin Spacy as the film exec (who just gets to ham it up and have a blast), and frank whaley (I think) as the assistant. It rules.
                You know I'm right.

By "same people" you mean one person, the director. BE COOL and THE ITALIAN JOB are very different movies and while F GARY GRAY did a decent job on the latter, he was a terrible director for BE COOL. Even if you happened to like the movie (which I cannot understand, because it was awful, but I digress), you cannot escape the fact that the direction was quite poor, especially when taking GET SHORTY into consideration. A sequel should never have such a dramatically different feel than the first movie.

Mikey Blue Eyes is kind of a gangster comedy. might be worth checking out.

For me, True Romance had a similar vibe and if anything is more entertaining. It ends up in California but isn't about Hollywood.
Good movies about Hollywood/movie industry: Ed Wood with Johnny Depp, Sunset Blvd, Mulholland Drive. Those last two are more dark side of Hollywood.
