why was gates stopped outside the pharmacy by the deputy? If it was just for questioning, why was the officer so confrontational? Why did he have a gun pointed at him?

I don't know that they showed it but I believe the pharmacist hit a silent alarm.

Listen to the radio in the police car when the deputy is looking at the horses outside during this scene. You will here "611 - Silent alarm at the XXX Pharmacy" (missed the name)
