Well it's been over 10 years since this movie came and went, and it isone of my cherished movie memories.
I don't have a whole lot of hope for this to come out anytime soon on DVD, HD-DVD or Blu-Ray unless perhaps a company wiht a deep appreciation of foreign films like Criterion is willing to work to get it released.
I have a feeling that the soundtrack while difficult to find is not going to be impossible to track down. It will probably carry a rather exorbitant price tag, but if not just for the end title track sung by the stunningly talented Patricial Kaas, it will be worth it.
If anybody knows if there are definite plans for this to come out on dvd, and if anybody knows where I can get the cd soundtrack, I'd truly appreciate it.

I actually have the LaserDisc version of this incredible film. Last year I dug out the old LaserDisc player and recorded the movie into my Mac where I was going to edit, create chapters and make my own DVD out of it.
One of the rare times a Mac has any problems caused everything on that boot drive to disappear. I spent WEEKS creating everything - chapters precisely marked as indicated by the disc jacket.
Now I have to do it all over again
I hope they see this message and know what I had to go through so they can just produce one even better!

Are you sure the other version, http://www.amazon.fr/Les-Misérables/dp/B0009A6O6A/ref=pd_ecc_rvi_1/403-5821749-2930837 , has the French subtitle?

You can find DVDs on Amazon. There are different versions between french and english or subtitles.

I can help with the soundtrack, if anybody is interested, write me a mail to:
                consuelina23@yahoo.com
If anybody could help me with a version of the film in French with English subs, I would be very happy.

I wrote a while back on here about trying to find out the composer's
name for the orchestral peice of music that was played right at the beginning in the ballroom, could you tell me if its on the soundtrack?,or is it one of those peices they leave out and dont include on the cd soundtrack?.
