What is the ballet the lady is in, where she sweeps with the broom? I keep seeing it in films and on tv, so it must be pretty well-known.

I'd imagine it's a ballet rendition of Les Miserables. I don't know its actual name (probably Les Miserables), but the part she's playing in the ballet is obviously Cosette (Andre Ziman mentions it in his review, I think).
There's nothing wrong with being a loser, it just depends on how good you are at it.

I suppose you're talking about Mrs. Ziman (before she was married) in which she played Cossette in the real Les Miserables (which is usually in musical form though). In the movie when Salome was sweeping by those two girls, that's their form of what happens in the actual play in which the character is Cossette.
