this is a prime example of how depp is better than 99% of actors

his nuanced, playing off the dangerous situations thrust upon him, knowing when to be aggressive and when not to be in an everyman guy carcer is a very hard role to pull off and he achieves this performance perfectly, never a misstep in emotion, reactions, physical acting or expressions.
he had the hardest role to pull off. far more difficult than walken's performance. which is great but just requires him to stay menacing intense and intimidating.

now this is where i love how we meet and agree in what is special to us which is johnny depp. he is an amazing actor who never has gotten the respect and accolades he deserves. i mean he's never won an oscar! how is that possible? he always great no matter what film he acts in. i'm never just like oh this is just a common performance when i watch him in a movie and i never not extremely impressed with his acting in a movie.
i wonder how he does it? i really want to find out how does he reach deep inside himself to deliver his level of acting which he always gives. i want to listen to him explains his process for getting into character. this fascinates me.
bc his acting style is different than any other actor. and his acting pedigree is better than almost any actor that has ever acted.
walken gives a great mesmerizing performance. now this is his sweet spot. it's his kind of role, that he plays the most of out of any kind of role he has played. so it's easy for him to deliver this performance bc it is what he's best at playing. it's prime walken in this film bc you can't take your eyes off him everytime he's on screen and i can't imagine any other actor playing this part as well as him. he plays crazy, intimidating, dangerous, lethal characters so well. he could give a seminar on how to play this kind of role for aspiring actors.
this is a believable, intense, suspense thrill ride film that never lets up in suspense.
this is unique film in that it all takes place in a like 2 hour time frame. and i love this and i also love how they keep stressing time by showing clocks everywhere.
the plot is simple but it is all in the way it is delivered with the action scenes, the shots, the acting and the directing. i love how there isn't any subplots, side characters that get a lot of screen time or any diversions in the basic story. this is very creative bc most films have subplots, side scenes. but this film puts the focus on the plot and never gets away from it.
it's difficult to pull off a film where it's just 2 hours time in the story bc they have to stay on point with everything that happens and it gets harder as it gets to the exciting end to keep everything in place.
i would watch johnny depp act in a movie over almost any actor. he is always so mesmerizing to watch in a movie. he's so pleasurable to watch in a movie. it is movie heaven for me. the reason why he has never been awarded an academy award and why he never been respected enough by the media is bc he's always had to fight against the fact that he is so handsome just like brad pitt has but for some reason pitt has always been respected for his acting but not depp.
i think it's bc depp has played a lot of high profile weirdo character roles which have hurt his credibility bc the media portrays him as just an eccentric weirdo so this has held him back as far as respect and getting his credit. so his pairing with tim burton has hurt his career since he became a movie star with edward scissorhands. but i think he likes it and prefers it this way. i think he's always been a quiet, keep to himself person who never wanted to be a movie star and always wanted to live his life with privacy.
i remember watching him in the tourist in a theater and taking in every acting thing he does and being in a trace bc i really enjoy watching depp act. great actors can do that, make you never look away from them, they have charisma.
well i've watched it 2 times just finished the 2nd time today over a span of about 20 years and i was just as impressed with it the 2nd time as i was the first time.
yeah how come this movie went under the radar when it came out in theaters? as soon as it came out i never heard anything about it. no great reviews and it just disappeared. so weird how one of the best films ever made could disappear.
it was such a pleasure watching 2 of the best actors of all time johnny depp and christopher walken acting together in a film so much. so many scenes together and so many lines spoken to each other and so much acting off each other and so much physical acting with each other.
