Why do people hate this film?

This film is part of my teens and still love it! It never claimed to be Citizen Kane but just fun! I used to read the Deadline comics and Tank Girl originally was a lesbian icon, but this film? Im sorry to say but love and adore it still!!
Take that as you will

Because people find this film annoying and I can actually see where they're coming from. This film is the equivalent of being stoned while watching a superhero cartoon and a punk lesbian porn while listening to some 90's kid's mix tape of his favourite songs.
Not to mention its badly written, its badly directed, its badly actedand I enjoy every minute.

I've never understood the hate. I've been watching & loving this movie for almost 20 years. Everyone I show it to, loves it. People that get all stuck on it not being the same as the comic books apparently aren't familiar with how Hollywood works. I'm just pleased with the movie as it is.
I think Lori Petty & Naomi Watts were both beautiful & played their parts very well. The world could use more strong female leads like this.
The only issues I witnessed with acting usually had to do with the Rippers. But I imagine being under all that costume did not make emoting an easy thing. -

I love all kinds of movies. Depends on my mood.
Some times I feel like watching something that is thought provoking and amazingly intelligent. Sometimes, I mightfeel like watching a serious drama, war movie, or documentary. Other times it may be a clever and, comedy or horror, or any mixture of the two (Cabin Fever or Tucker and Dale anyone??)
Sometimes I just want to sit back, have a beer, turn off my brain, and enjoy the hell out of some Tank Girl! -

Because it's like 5 badly done movies all thrown together. Nothing about it works - the setting, the clothes, the characters, the plot, the writing, the pacing, etc. I can't think of a single thing this movie does well.
It's not even a 'so bad it's fun' kind of movie. It's just a 'so bad it's unwatchable' type of flick. I have a high tolerance for bad cinema too, and this movie still annoys me when it comes on. Not many movies I actively hate (usually you just say oh well and move on), but this one irks me to no end for some reason. -

Why? Excuses. Not understanding the humor (it is British, even aside from being crazy). Not really getting what a manic comic book is like when animated. Not finding humor in sociopathy. Wanting the nazis to win. They don't get that Ice-T is supposed to be a kangaroo, or why that is relevant, and hilarious.
I have talked to some people who insisted they were offended it didn't stick to the source. Of course, They Have Never Read The Original Comic. A lot of this strikes me as gamergate-esque ur-bro crap where white suburban your republicans like to get offended by anything, and especially anything where girls shoot and talk and drive and generally win.
Since then, it got that reputation and I think those that bother to watch it go in expecting to hate it, so find all the flaws, or watch it while doing something else and miss out.
It's not perfect by any stretch, but it's not awful or offensive. -

The problem with people that hate these movies, is that they love comics, and that means comics are for children, and then you get adults claiming they read them. Well, there is the problem. Adults are not meant to be reading comics but they do anyways, which means they are not wanting to mature. So that means they are still kids even in adult ages. Those of us that do not read comics have matured, and love movies more than comics. So they will argue all they want in what I just said, but that is a child that argues with this.
Rated R Horror movies are better, no matter the argument.
