Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Tank Girl

    I was watching
    Tank Girl
again last night, and was nagged by the thought of a resemblance to some other workfinally realizing that it was
    FLCL
, the brilliant 2000-2001 anime series.
The breakneck, quick-cut action, the mix of moods, the electric-guitar-dominated sound trackright down to the cuts to graphics scenes (with still "manga" drawings substituting for animation in the case of FLCL, and with drawings, still and animated, substituting for live-action film in the case of Tank Girl) all these elements are highly similar in both works. Even the attitudes of both are similarbreezy and irreverent.
    Per wikipedia,
    Furi Kuri
was written by Yji Enokido and directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki. I wonder if either or both were fans of the 1995
    Tank Girl
    film?

Huh, I never thought of that, now that you mention it.

I dont think so. FLCL it's AWESOME, and this film is barely average. Maybe they did like the 1988's Tank Girl Comic Book (wich is very good).
Please excuse my terrible redaction, english is not my native language.

I just watched this movie for the first time and I completely agree. Though, I was thinking of Dead Leaves, which had the same director as, but before FLCL. (Dead Leaves is free to watch on YouTube if you want to check it out.)
